September seems to signal a fresh start. In north hemispheres, the leaves will soon begin to change, and fall clothes, long tucked away, will have to come out and be pressed. It will be time to get new clothes too, as the new season dawns. Vacations are over - it's time to knuckle down and get to work.

To that end, the universe seems to be sending a particularly strong message at the start of September by sending Saturn conjunct the Sun. This annual event will happen this year on Wednesday, September 3, in Virgo, filling your twelfth house of the subconscious mind and behind-the-scenes activities.

If you find you feel low in spirit or energy as you enter September, it could be that you are simply tired or resisting the idea of getting back into a structured workaday world. As you get closer to the third week of the month - birthday time - I promise you won't feel this way. What you may be feeling near September 3 would be temporary. To make your transition to the coming season's work schedule easier, give yourself something to look forward to during the first week of September.

Admittedly, Saturn conjunct the Sun can seem like a weighty, heavy aspect. The Sun rules your solar eleventh house of friendship, so you may hear that a friend is going through a hard time or is ill and in the hospital. He may reach out to you for moral support or assistance. I say "he" rather than "she" because the Sun always denotes a male. Or, a friend may disappoint you in some way, and if so, it could mark a parting of the ways.

Alternatively, a commitment to a group that you belong to may give you pause. You might have been tapped to head up a committee recently, but now you may suddenly feel a little overwhelmed by all you have to do. If you do feel this way, break things down into little pieces and remember to try not to do everything yourself.

A good leader, a friend once told me, allows your committee members in your team to do the bulk of the work. Your job is to direct - if something suddenly goes wrong, you'll be free to jump in to fix it. Otherwise, if you take on too much, you won't be able to turn on a dime, and that could jeopardize the whole project. This was good advice for me - maybe you'll like it, too.

You may find something to cheer about the very next day, September 4. The Sun and Jupiter will form a perfect collaboration on that day, bringing you good news about a real estate or other home or family-related goal. If you've hoped to find the perfect apartment to lease, a new rug for your living room, or a beautiful lighting solution for your home office, not only might you find it on this day, but also you may get it for a bargain price to boot.

You will need to work quickly in September, especially if you have plans to spend money on some pricey items. Mercury is due to go retrograde September 24 through October 15. Add additional space to the beginning and end date of the retrograde, for Mercury is at his most devilish at that point.

Mercury rules moving parts to machines and electronics, so the last thing you want to buy is a pricey electronic during a retrograde. In fact, you will probably find that something in your house needs repair, and off you will go to the repair shop. This is par for the course, and while it's annoying, alas, things do wear out, so be glad there are repairmen who know how to make those items like new again. When it comes to computers, back up all your data the moment the month begins, because you won't want to lose any should your computer give you problems this month.

A very important, happy date to keep your eye on will be September 8. On this day both Pluto and Jupiter will turn direct motion and stay in good, strong, sturdy motion for months. Pluto shut down for a long nap starting April 2, and Jupiter, May 9, so you've had a long wait. Neither planet is due to phase out anytime soon - Pluto will nap in April 4, 2009, and Jupiter, June 15, 2009.

From September 8 onward, both Jupiter and Pluto will help you with any plans you have to redo, upgrade, or change your living quarters. You may sell or buy real estate, renovate, move across the country, finally decorate your house in the way you had hoped to do someday, or take in a roommate (or eject one that has been troublesome). With just a little effort, your lifestyle is going to change for the better. If you've been meaning to do more entertaining, Jupiter and Pluto will give you the impetus to do so now. You'll feel more like doing so, too - it won't be work, it will be a lot of fun!

I feel you will be meditating about your home, real estate, decorating, repair, or family-related plans, but you might not be ready to act on them until the very end of December or early January. I know the holidays may be an inconvenient time to enact home-related changes, but I feel you'd be wise to act then, for the new moon, December 27, will be simply spectacular for you. That's when all the pieces of your plan will click into place! Jupiter will offer you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity then for improving your home living situation. Truly it will be THAT magnificent!

Getting back to September, keep in mind that you currently have Mars in Libra, a once-in-two-year advantage that started last month on August 19, and that will last until October 4. Everyone wants Mars in their sign - Mars gives courage; control; and a driving, passionate ambition to see things happen your way - and your passion will be infectious in all areas of your life! With the authoritative presence Mars is giving you now, you will find that others can be easily persuaded to go along with your ideas. This is a once-in-two-year advantage that only lasts a short time, so use it!

On top of this, your ruler, Venus, will be in Libra, too! Venus will allow you to show your charms more easily as well - very helpful in matters of the heart.
