October 2007 - Virgo PDF Print E-mail

After having been the subject of eclipses in Virgo and Pisces for two years in March and September (this year it was late August), your life is finally beginning to settle down. You have only one more eclipse, February 21, 2008, and you will be done. Eclipses test the strength of everything in your life, and anything not deemed strong was to be jettisoned very rapidly. That's what makes dealing with eclipses so hard - they are dramatic and swift in the way they create change.

As your past continues to recede into history, you may be looking forward to the future with a spirit of adventure. Just a few months ago you may have felt like your whole world was coming to an end, but thanks to your legendary ability to bounce back from just about any challenge, you have emerged even stronger than before. Although you may have assumed you'd never be the same, now you see that you can recover and grow from the experience. Not everyone went through dramatic changes (most likely in regard to one certain close relationship), but many members of your sign did. If that includes you, you are now becoming more acclimated to your new lifestyle and looking forward to your new life.

Lots of new trends are developing this season that will be in place for a long time. The most important new development is the move of Saturn into your sign last month on September 2. Saturn will remain at your side until September 2009, a period of two years, while he puts you through your paces and generally toughens you up a little to be better able to handle anything life throws your way. You will soon assume a lot more responsibility in one area of your life, and you may already have an inkling of what that might be. If your Virgo birthday falls at the end of August, chances are, you know. Saturn never forces us to accept responsibility; we do so willingly because the offer is so juicy, and would have such long range potential for growth that most of us accept it without batting an eyelash.

You will be moving through new territory, but nevertheless Saturn will expect you to be a quick study so that you can live up to certain high standards of excellence. The area you will be in (or the lifestyle you will be living) will be completely new to you, so at times all this learning will be a little exhausting! Still, most people enjoy seeing personal growth, and you will be in such an accelerated period that later when you look back you won't believe how far you've come in such a relatively short time period.

Since everything will be new to you, you'll need to get advice from others who have been down that road. Later, after you've fully mastered your new role, you'll pass the baton and help someone else. If you recall how you felt when you first showed up at college, or when you signed the lease on your first apartment, got married, had your first baby, bought your first house, started your business, or wrote your first book, any one of those experiences were positively thrilling. I feel that the life experiences we take on while Saturn visits our sign, as you have now, turn out to be the most valuable of our lives, and the endeavors that we devote ourselves to makes us the proudest.

Saturn will help you to become more mature, no matter what age you happen to be. As the planet of reality, Saturn's main job is to make dreams real and tangible. That's why Saturn visits like the one you are in now can be so powerful. You seem to be busy setting up one large element of your life that will remain in your life for twenty years or more, even forever. Saturn only comes by for a two-year visit every 29 years, so in our lifetime, if we live into our late eighties, we can expect to have three two-year Saturn visits. That's why this planet's lessons are so indelible - you will need to carry those lessons with you for nearly three decades, until Saturn comes back to teach you a few more things. (Saturn's first visit is always the hardest. Most people find their second Saturn visit to be easier, since you learned a great deal the first time around.)

Very soon, Saturn will begin to narrow your options so that you can hone in on your chosen commitment and focus hard on it. While Jupiter expands options, Saturn does just the opposite - he limits them. Saturn knows if too many goodies are on the table, you may spend too much time deciding or spreading yourself too thin, and later have nothing to show for your time and efforts. That would never sit well with Saturn, who wants you to pay attention, learn, grow, and above all, be very self-disciplined. As a Virgo you are that - and more. Saturn will want you to use your time well.

Under Saturn you'll be under some strain. Keep an eye on how you are feeling, and get more rest when you feel you need to. Saturn in Virgo could bring problems with digestion, so rather than not eat when you have too much to do, you need to eat lightly and a little more frequently. It is highly unlikely that you will gain weight - Saturn conjunct the Sun as you have now is legendary for causing weight loss. This is good news if you want to lose a few pounds, but not good news if you are already too thin.

Last month Mars, the energy planet, also made a decisive move. Now ensconced in your eleventh house of clubs and groups and friendships, this area will become a vital area for many reasons in the weeks and months to come. There appears to be something very special about what's going on in your life in regard to a club you belong to, or an organization you are working with in a different manner. Or, it may be that you will find that friends will figure very prominently in your life in your future - more so than you've ever seen or could even guess.

Mars is set to stay in this area for nearly seven months, not the usual seven weeks! Mars is not due to leave your friends / people / events sector until May 9, 2008. No doubt you will be out mingling with others much more than you are used to doing, and much more than anything you've experienced in recent memory. New faces will be pouring into your life at a rapid, dizzying rate, and the trick you'll need to learn is how to manage all these new contacts. Saturn rules the concept of time, so time will become more precious to you, yet the new people you are about to meet will be clamoring to see you! It sounds like a good problem, and it is, but you will feel a little pushed in two directions - the need to work at your desk, and the desire to see your new contacts and partake of the events that you will be invited to. It sounds easy until you realize you will be launching a whole new way of life, and so juggling all that will be expected of you isn't going to be easy!

Financially, this will be a major month. In fact, the decisions you make in October and November will affect you for at least a year to come, if not a great deal longer. The new moon on October 11 is the moment to watch. It's friendly, and so if you work for an employer, you should ask for a raise now even if you think your chance of getting one is slim. Your chart says you can get it if you are persuasive enough.

If you feel your prospects are dim and you truly do need more money, then you should look into interviewing for a new job. Realizing that good jobs take time to be awarded (the interview process is usually quite long) you may not land your new job until April. Knowing the timetable may be helpful.

If you are self-employed, you can now try for new clients and develop new business that could grow into some of the most lucrative projects of the year. Each time a new moon appears, it opens up a window of opportunity that lasts two weeks. The actions you take during that two-week period will affect your whole year to come in that one area (in this case, finances). This new moon will receive lovely rays from both Neptune and Pluto, suggesting your vision and creativity will allow you to create increased cash flow. These are heady aspects, so use them, dear Virgo.

The tricky part is that Mercury will be retrograde from October 11 to November 1, and Mercury is always in its wildest state on the onset date (October 11, plus or minus three days) and end date (November 1, plus or minus three days). For that reason, plan to tie up important business the moment the month begins. You will want to create as much distance as you can around the dates mentioned.

So, you may ask, how am I to get the money due me for my efforts if Mercury is retrograde? It's an interesting question that I will answer as best I can.

Mercury is your ruling planet, so while everyone of every sign will feel the slowdowns and miscommunications that Mercury will bring, you will feel the retrograde more sharply because Mercury is rules your sign. You inherited your sharp intellect and communication ability from Mercury, as well as your ability to change gears quickly when necessary. That kind of flexibility is admirable. These are just a few of your talents that you owe to your ruler Mercury, so be glad you have such a wonderful planet caring for you.

So to answer your question: What to do about the new moon, which will coax you to ask for more money at a time when Mercury is snoozing? It's never a good time to begin new endeavors when Mercury is out of phase, so here's an idea of how you can work things.

Think back to financial conversations you may have had over the past few months. Mercury will want you to find closure from the discussions you've had in the past. Were you promised a raise six months ago that never materialized? Or, if you work in sales or are self-employed, was there a client who wanted to work with you, but couldn't because the timing of the project was a little off? Go back now and see if this time would be better. Those types of circumstances are ideal when Mercury is retrograde.

Also, think about all the people you enjoyed working with in the past, and give each one a call - you may get an interesting tip to point you in the right direction.

Be careful not to ACCEPT a new job or sign papers until you get well beyond the retrograde, specifically next month, from November 5 onward. Talks often require that your lawyer be involved, so that will automatically slow down the process - lucky for you!

With Venus, ruler of your house of salary, moving close to Saturn in October, the amount of your raise may not be as much as you had hoped. Or, you may get a decent increase but you find as it comes in that it goes right out again because the money has been spoken for already. Ah, sometimes life is that way. Stay cheerful, dear Virgo. There appears to be generous money coming your way by month's end, so there's no reason to freak out.

Real estate and renovations continue to sparkle for you and will grow in importance as you get closer to early December. Don't rush into any deals this month. This bears repeating: If you can, delay signing important papers until November 9 to 12.

The media has reported a falling real estate market, but you could well be the exception to the rule if you buy or renovate in 2007, rather than wait for 2008. See how things work out and use your instinct. With Jupiter currently lighting your home sector this year, you have the best time to buy or sell a house in the whole decade - watch what happens in December!

If you haven't done so yet, think about how you can improve the value, comfort, or appearance of your present home, or investigate the possibility of new property. If you know you need to move within the next year, even to rent a new apartment, it behooves you to look now, not later, because after Jupiter leaves Sagittarius on December 17, you won't have the luck you have now, and that makes a big difference.

At the very least, sign up with a broker, or if you rent, put your name on a waiting list for an apartment in a building you like. This month you may want to look at your options on October 20, a day when the Sun and Jupiter will collaborate - you'll be amazed at what's out there for you. If you've been worried about the health or welfare of a parent, you should see a turnaround at this time, too.

Buying any sort of electronic items would be a disaster, so cool your jets while you wait to buy your new LCD flat screen TV, iPhone, or digital camera.

A long trip or interests abroad will draw your attention and be finalized by the light of the full moon, October 26, plus or minus four days. This full moon will open your mind to many possibilities. The panoramic scope of projects or plans you are discussing at month's end could easily take your breath away. You'll be in a spiritual mode at this full moon, so one idea for a trip could be to a place that inspires you in some way, or that allows you to quietly meditate, pray, or think about what you'd like to happen next. Saturn and Mars will both be helpful, suggesting that friends may come if you do decide to travel, or you may go to see good friends.

This full moon, October 26, will be very broadening on an intellectual level too, so you may decide to sign up for classes or seminars, or be asked to teach a class.

If your birthday falls on August 24, or within five days of this date, you will feel the affects of the full moon more dramatically than most.

Romantically and creatively, watch October's end, October 30, which could turn out to be one of the most lyrical moments of the year for you. Jupiter will send a beam to Neptune, and since Jupiter is currently in your house of home, and because Neptune is the planet of creativity and imagination, you may be very focused on making your home more inviting, or working on a party idea that will delight friends. Your partner seems to play a part in your happiness of the day, too.

How wonderful to have Neptune work with Jupiter on the eve of Halloween! The costumes this year should be outstanding! If you are going to a party, you'll have to work extra hard to win the top prize! The competition will be stiff this year, and that's the fun!

Since you will be at a creative peak on or near October 30, if you work in a creative field, you may want to consider making a key client a presentation at this time. Again there appears to be someone close who will be helpful to you - your agent / publicist / business partner or other collaborator should be worth his or her weight in gold to you at the time!

Neptune will go direct orbit after five months of being retrograde (since March 31) on the following day, October 31. This is a dramatic change, so watch what kinds of phone calls and offers you get around this time from collaborators and partners, including your romantic partner.

In your chart, Neptune rules your most serious, committed relationships, so after this date, you will be able to formalize a personal or business relationship that is of vital importance to you. It looks like you will be ready to take the next step on an alliance you have been discussing.

See if you can wait to do so until next month - the new moon in your agreements sector on November 9. Don't sign sooner, but don't wait too much later either. Mars, the planet of energy and motivation, will begin to retrograde for twelve weeks beginning November 15. For best luck, be ready to sign papers on a day you chose that falls between November 9 and 12.

In the meantime, this month should sparkle with plenty of social opportunities. Venus will be in Virgo, so you'll be in demand, with more calls on your cell phone than your voice mail could possibly handle. How wonderful! And guess what? When it comes to love and a rich personal life, 2008 will be even better! With Jupiter moving into Capricorn for a full year in late December, you will finally see you were right to leave the past behind. You have so much that is new and exciting to look forward to now! Of all the signs, you have one of the very best outlooks for fun and love!

This month, your most romantic nights: October 6 - 8, 17, 26, 30, 31. Remember: Entertain guests over October 6 - 8, if possible.

Summary

This should be one of your very best months of all of 2007 to rake in more money. Your first and very best opportunity will come on the new moon, October 11, and in the days to follow. This day, or the days that follow, would be the perfect time to begin your campaign for a raise. Your level of earned income should climb impressively, because this new moon will be so beautifully angled to lucky Jupiter and powerhouse Pluto. Later, at the full moon, October 26, you may have to write a check to cover a major financial commitment, but if so, there's no reason to be anxious. An unexpected windfall should arrive in the nick of time, allowing you to cover any hefty outlay you might need to make.

All this talk about finances may lead you to think you'll be mired in calculator tape all month, but nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, October should brim with social opportunities for you, for Mars will see that you do. Also, Venus will move through Virgo from October 8 onward, an ideal situation for you, for Venus will allow you to draw others to you like bees to honey. Your friends will ask you how on earth you do that! You might not know! Dear Virgo, just enjoy the fuss!

Mercury, your ruler, will be retrograde in your sector of friendship this month, indicating that you may now reconnect with several old friends that you have not seen in a long time. Catching up will be great fun, and you'll come up with some ideas together that you might want to investigate together as you move forward.

Over the weekend of October 6 - 8, consider giving a party in your home. Your star power in the home will be simply dazzling! Thanks to a shimmering vibe from Jupiter, a dinner party for 6, cocktail party for 50, or barbecue for 10 would be an ideal way show off your flair for entertaining.

Finally, circle Halloween (October 31) in orange on your calendar! With Neptune due to turn direct on this day for spooks and goblins, (after months of orbiting in reverse) your imagination will take flight. Start making your costume, for it looks like a good bet you will be invited to a party. While the competition will be stiff, could win first prize!
